ROBINS CIVIC CLUB
2026 Robins Civic Club Scholarship Recipients
The Robins Civic Club Scholarship Selection Committee has named Tyler Evers, Reese Komenda, and Lauren Weber as the 2026 4-year Scholarship recipients.  Each will receive a $1000 award sent to their chosen college. The recipient of the first Vocational/Technical/Trade Scholarship is Dylan Flannery. He is receiving $500.00 for his trade school certification.  This year, the Civic Club added a requirement for each student to provide an hour of community service to the Robins Community. Next year, the Robins community requirement will increase to two hours of community service. Service opportunities are throughout the year so rising seniors start checking your schedules on when is best to get those two community service hours for our city!

tyler evers
Linn Mar High School
Tyler Evers, a senior at Linn Mar High School, was recognized for Academic Achievement with Honors all four years.  He was a Mississippi Valley Conference All Academic Honoree last year.  Tyler played Tennis three years and was a volunteer tennis camp instructor for four summers.  He sang in the LM choirs for three years.  Tyler Works at Fareway in Marion in the summers as a customer service person and also in the Dairy Department.  He recently joined the Iowa Army National Guard and is attending boot camp and the tech school for Transportation Management. Upon completion of this training, Tyler will participate with monthly drills in the Guard while also beginning his college time and participate in the Army ROTC. The ING does extensive community outreach and service. Tyler’s other community service spans many areas from the Eastern Iowa Honor Flights over the past few years which included setting up and cleaning up from the orientations to preparing for the Welcome Home ceremonies. Tyler assisted while he with the placement and retrieval of the American flags on the 5 flag holidays entitled Avenue of the Flags with the Optimists and his scout troop. Tyler worked on the Robins seasonal garden prep of the pollinator way station in South Troy Park. Tyler also helped clear debris and documented/collected information on the species at the Big Sand Mound Nature Preserve along the Mississippi River to help that one-of-a-kind ecosystem inhabitants thrive. Tyler is the son of Mathew and Cathy Evers. Tyler will be attending Iowa State University double majoring in Supply Chain Management and Business Analytics.

Lauren Weber
linn Mar High School
Lauren Weber, a senior at Linn-Mar High School, maintained at 4.14 GPA taking a myriad of AP and Kirkwood Community Courses. She earned an Academic Letter with distinction all four years, she is the Co-Captain of the award-winning Linn Mar Varsity Poms; Co-Founder of the Pep Rally Committee and Senior Class Representative to the Student Council. She is an active member of the National Honor Society and Lauren was selected to represent Linn-Mar at the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar where she learned more about service and leadership. Lauren was selected as the student district career and academic planning committee rep to be the conduit voice for the students to collaborate with teachers and administrators for future academic planning for the high school. Lauren coached Oak Ridge Dance Team supported the FLY- Feeding Lunches to Youth and provided labor for several Robins Farmers Markets. She worked at the information booth assisting with set up and vendor support. She worked with the Civic Club for Easter Egg hunt set up and clean up this year Lauren’s employers are the Kool Moo each summer for the past four years as an icer cream maker/cashier and for the past two years at Respite and SCL Care working on supervising kids with special needs and teaching them life skills. She is the daughter of Brian and Amy Weber.  Lauren and plans to pursue a degree in Business for Medical Sales focusing on implants at the University of Missouri.

Xavier High School
Reese Komenda, a senior at Xavier High School, was selected for the position of the Xavier High School Director for Community systems.  This is similar to being the Student Body President.  Reese maintains a 4.46 GPA and challenges herself with numerous AP courses.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society, National Youth Leadership Forum, and is a four time All Academic Mississippi Valley Conference and 2time 2A soccer All Tournament Team member.  She for three years was the Captain of the Varsity Soccer team and she is the Xavier Varsity Basketball Team Captain. Other organizations Reese participates in are the Key club, the prom committee, and the health club. For community service endeavors, Reese assisted in highway clean ups of the Seminole Valley Road twice a year for the past four years. Reese volunteered the past two years at the VBS for St Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. Reese worked with Metro Catholic Outreach with food bags distribution and helped with the Robins Civic Club Easter Egg Hunt this year. Reese since her freshman year, she has continued her support of the community by running camps and coaching teams for the Xavier Youth Basketball program. She is the daughter of Sheena and Kevin Komenda and plans to attend Creighton University majoring in Pre-Med with plans for medical school.  Her goal is to be a Sports Medicine Physician.

Dylan Flannery
Alburnett High School
Dylan Flannery, a senior at Alburnett High School and is our first Robins Civic Club Trade/Vocational/Technical scholarship recipient!  Dylan plans to complete the Utility Power Line program at Marshalltown Community College with a goal to progress in the power lineman field becoming a journeyman and eventually learn/earn his way into the role as a foreman.  He sees this to assist and guide new apprentices.  He wants to keep power lines safe and reliable for communities that depend on them. Dylan sought out training and experience in the trades all the while maintaining a 4.01 GPA, Dylan played soccer for many years and currently is the Captain of the Alburnett High School Soccer team. Dylan worked at Dry Creek Brew part time and earned valuable job shadowing in Price Electric, Alliant Energy and Corridor Energy formerly known as LINN County REC.  Dylan completed some training courses in ACE Kirkwood Academy – Architecture, Construction and Engineering. He has work experience with Price Electric and AN Framers. Dylan participated in the Robins Community Christmas Tree lighting project for several years.  Dylan was part of the team that when a local family donates the Christmas tree, he helped cut it properly, transported, erected and prepped the tree with lights and decorations at the Robins Square clock tower. Dylan is the son of Patrick and Jill Flannery.
