ROBINS CIVIC CLUB
2025 Robins Civic Club Scholarship Recipients
The Robins Civic Club Scholarship Selection Committee has selected Seijal Bhushan, Anne Goodin and Max Leno as the 2025 Scholarship recipients.  Each of these students receives a $1000.00 award sent to their chosen college. The scholarship committee looks heavily at the Academic workload and excellence, and community service endeavors of the applicants.

Seijal Bhushan
Linn Mar High School
Seijal Bhushan, a senior at Linn Mar High School, was selected for the Global Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish for 2020. She earned the Distinguished Academic Honors Award with a (GPA of over 4.30). Seijal was one of 35 students selected for junior year participation in the Leadership for Five Season where monthly the group would meet and participate in very diverse setting within the city to figure out how to address issues/concerns and come up with a variety of ways to move forward the productive conversation in solving these community concerns. Seijal is an AP scholar having several Advanced Placement courses each semester. She earned multiple Academic Achievements letter with Distinction for continued excellence. She was a Youth Salute Award Winner for the National Council on Youth Leadership for the Greater Cedar Rapids chapter. She earned a position in the National Honor Society and continues to participate in Student Council leadership as a class officer since 10th grade and a student council public relations officer now.  She participates in the award-winning show choir and choir programs at Linn Mar H S.  She interns in areas of public health and public safety initiatives. Some examples of Seijal’s community service are working as a tutor three times a week and working in the emergency department as an ambassador for Unity Point St Luke’s Hospital.  She has been a part time or full-time intern in a myriad of areas from month-long dental internships to varied lab interns and a finance intern with the Aegon Asset Management company. Seijal is attending the University of Iowa and study Public Health on a Pre-Dentistry track. Seijal is the daughter of Shalini and Himanshu Bhushan.

Anne Goodin
kennedy High School
Anne Goodin, a senior at Kennedy High School, has excelled Academically earning Academic letters and maintaining a weighted GPA of 4.35 while taking numerous AP and College courses. Anne, an ALL-State Musician as a bassoon player, twice, also earned accolades in a variety of Honor bands.  Anne attained the Thespian Award which requires hundreds of service hours within the theater community as a cast member and as tech support.  She is an involved member in National Honor Society, volunteering with and for events held by NHS monthly. Anne held leadership positions in the Marching Band as a section leader, and supported the band as a band manager, trailer crew, working drum line, jazz band, symphony winds, and as a student conductor.  Anne participated in numerous outreaches, fundraising and hosting of events to promote the award-winning Kennedy band programs throughout the Cedar Rapids Community and within the school district.  As a Key Club member, Anne worked a variety of community service projects. Anne sought service within her own community for the City of Robins through seasonal events.  Anne was the Easter Bunny for the annual Egg hunt multiple years. Anne was a Robins Roundup Kid zone safety monitor, and weekly supported the set up and clean up for the Robins Farmers Markets. Anne also assists with the Robins Firefighters Pancake Breakfast fundraisers. Anne works two part time jobs along with her volunteer work and academic workload. Anne will be attending the University of Iowa majoring in Actuarial Science.  Anne Goodin is the daughter of Robert and Lisa Goodin.

max leno
kennedy High School
Max Leno, also a Kennedy High school senior, has maintained an impressive 4.5 GPA while taking multiple dual enrollment and AP courses.  Max is an AP scholar and recipient of the AP GHOSH award. Max is an active member of both the National Honor Society and the Math Honor Society.  Using those math skills, Max volunteers as a Math tutor at Hiawatha Elementary School kids twice a week.  Through his academic and sports endeavors, he has been recognized as a Mississippi Valley Conference All-Academic Scholar Athlete.  Max participates in the Best Buddies program as a peer buddy and has all four years in high school.  He finds this one of the most rewarding programs at Kennedy to work one-on-one with other students who would otherwise not have these friends.  Max volunteered as a scorekeeper buddy for the Special Olympics. Max ran cross country for personal growth although most of his athletic energy is involved in playing baseball.  He mentions that one of his favorite leadership opportunities has been to be a mentor for aspiring young leaders at the Leadership Retreat and 8th grade baseball protégés . Max works numerous baseball themed community service areas from mentoring baseball players three days a week to working as a camp leader for the baseball camp held twice a year.  He additionally works a part time job at “D-BAT” in Marion as a camp, birthday party and front desk representative. Max will be attending the Southeastern Community College and studying Business in the Entrepreneur science track.  Max Leno is the son of Anna and Eric Leno.
